The Moto Z features is slim design that is just 5.2mm thick and is made with aircraft-grade aluminium and stainless steel. There’s a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display on the front and on the inside there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. On the back we have a 13MP camera unit that features laser autofocus, OIS and a dual-tone LED flash. The front-facing camera is a 5MP unit and offers a wide-angle lens and a front-facing LED flash as well.
The smartphone also features a fingerprint reader on the front similar to that on the Moto G4 series. It also comes with a water-repellant coating. Powering all of the above is 2600mAh battery with quick charge support via a USB Type-C connector. Yes, there is no 3.5mm audio jack so audio is routed through the USB-C port. Motorola will however include a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box.
The Moto Z Play on the other hand is a more nimble device featuring a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) Super AMOLED display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor along with 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB storage onboard, a 16MP rear camera with laser auto-focus, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, a 5MP front-facing camera, fingerprint scanner, and dual SIM card option. You do get a USB Type-C port but unlike the Moto Z, this smartphone comes with the 3.5mm audio jack. There is also a microSD expansion slot and a larger 3,510mAh battery.
